Fire Rating Properties
- A properly constructed BenexBlock™ wall will achieve a 240/240/180 struct/integrity/insulation as noted in the attached extract of CSIRO laboratory measurement of air borne sound insulation.
- We believe that a 240/240/240 fire rating will be achieved at our next test, in the interim to achieve 240/240/240 a 10mm sheet of gyprock is required to be fixed to one face if the BenexBlock™, or core filling required.

Water Proof Properties
-
Benex Blocks are classified as masonry, and therefore should perform in much the same way as other masonry products. It is generally accepted that wind driven rain will eventually penetrate all masonry products, in fact most modern day wall systems that include the use of masonry have to include a cavity or waterproof membrane to stop water passing through the wall. As part of the testing process for the Benex Blocks the CSIRO needed to access the Benex Blocks as an installed wall. This process would test the blocks and the BenexMix Adhesive. The tests were based on ASTM E514-06 which is known as “Standard Method for Water Penetration and Leakage through Masonry” This test would normally be terminated after 4 hours as masonry would generally fail this test well before the 4 hour test period had concluded. The Benex wall did not fail within the 4 hour period so it was decided to continue the test for a total of 24 hours. The Benex walls did not allow any water to pass through. These walls were untreated and the standard Benex Blocks and BenexMix Adhesive was used. No special installation methods were adopted either. The CSIRO concluded that “a properly built Benex wall can resist the conditions imposed by the ASTM water permeability test for more than 24 hours, without failure.
The significance of this achievement cannot be understated. Once the building industry understands that the Benex products can be used almost everywhere without further treatment, architects, building designers, engineers and builders will be able to design and build projects faster and more affordably with less trades and processes. In short, the BenexBlock Wall Construction System will revolutionize the building industry around the world.

Thermal Properties
- BenexBlock™ walls have excellent Thermal Properties. Used in conjunction with other materials BenexBlock™ walls achieve all the requirements of the BCA with regards to thermal performance in all Australian climate zones with less materials and cost than the traditional alternate.
- Using BenexBlock™ with aircell achieves an R value of 2.5 as noted in the aircell certificates.

Acoustic Properties
-
BenexBlock™ H600 composite walls built in accordance with approved BenexBlock™ standard details will achieve excellent results compared to most other masonry products.
BenexBlock™ S600 composite walls built in accordance with BenexBlock™ standard details will achieve RW50+ CTR within a 200mm thickness. We do not believe this will be possible with any other cavity wall construction methodology.
